Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Your private media is designed to stay private
Safety Photo+Video protects selected photos and videos with encryption before backup. We do not use your personal media for advertising, profiling, AI training, or content analysis. When zero-knowledge encryption is enabled, we do not have the Encryption Password needed to decrypt your protected library.
1. Who We Are
Safety Photo+Video is a mobile app provided by Sixbytes for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we access, collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you use the Safety Photo+Video app, website, support services, and related cloud backup features.
This policy is intended to be read together with any in-app privacy notices, permission prompts, App Store privacy labels, Google Play Data safety disclosures, and our Terms of Service.
2. Information We Cannot See
Safety Photo+Video is built around private photo and video protection. Depending on your settings and app version, selected media may be encrypted on your device before it is uploaded or synced. In that encrypted state, we cannot view the contents without the Encryption Password or key material that stays with you.
- Protected photos and videos - stored as encrypted backup data, not readable media.
- Your Encryption Password - not sent to us and not recoverable by support.
- Private encryption keys - generated, derived, or stored locally according to the app security design.
- Encrypted file contents - we may store encrypted files and sync records, but not the readable contents of protected media.
3. Information We Collect or Access
We collect only the information needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the app. The exact information depends on the features you use, permissions you grant, and the platform through which you subscribe.
- Account information - such as your email address, authentication records, account identifiers, settings, and support history.
- Photo library access - only after you grant iOS or Android permission, so the app can import, encrypt, back up, restore, or display the photos and videos you choose to protect.
- Encrypted backup data - encrypted media files, encrypted metadata where supported, backup status, storage usage, sync state, and restore records.
- Device and app information - such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, region, diagnostics, crash logs, performance data, and network error information.
- Purchase and subscription status - such as plan, entitlement, renewal status, and store transaction identifiers. Apple and Google process App Store and Google Play payments; we do not receive your full card details.
- Communications - messages you send to support, survey responses, and information you choose to include when asking for help. Do not send us your Encryption Password.
4. App Permissions
Mobile platforms may ask you to grant permissions before Safety Photo+Video can use certain features. You can change permissions in your device settings, although some app features may stop working if permission is removed.
- Photos and videos - used to select, import, encrypt, back up, restore, and display your protected library.
- Camera - used only if you choose to capture photos or videos directly in the app.
- Notifications - used for backup status, restore progress, account alerts, security notices, or subscription messages.
- Network access - used to sign in, sync, upload encrypted backups, download restores, validate purchases, and contact support.
5. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and manage your account;
- provide encrypted backup, sync, restore, storage, and subscription features;
- verify purchases and apply storage or premium entitlements;
- send service messages, security notices, and support replies;
- diagnose crashes, performance issues, backup failures, and restore problems;
- protect against abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, and service misuse;
- meet legal, tax, accounting, platform, and compliance obligations.
We do not sell your personal information or your personal media. We do not use your protected photos or videos for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, or AI model training.
6. Sharing and Service Providers
We share information only as needed to operate the app and business. Providers may process information for us under contracts that restrict their use of the information.
- cloud hosting, storage, database, authentication, and infrastructure providers;
- crash reporting, diagnostics, analytics, and security monitoring providers;
- customer support and communication tools;
- Apple App Store and Google Play for purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and app review;
- professional advisers, payment processors, tax providers, or authorities where required;
- another organization if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
If we receive a lawful request for user information, we may disclose account or operational records when legally required. Because protected media is encrypted, we cannot provide decrypted copies of your protected library unless you provide them to us separately.
7. How We Protect Information
Encryption-first design
Protected media is encrypted before or during backup according to the app's security architecture.
Limited operational data
We separate encrypted file storage from the account and sync records needed to operate the service.
Secure handling
We use access controls, transport encryption, monitoring, and provider safeguards to reduce unauthorized access.
8. Retention and Deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. In general:
- encrypted backup data is retained while your account or backup feature is active;
- account and subscription records are retained while your account is active;
- support messages may be retained to help resolve future issues;
- diagnostic logs are usually retained for a limited period unless needed for security or support;
- some billing, security, or legal records may be kept after deletion where required by law.
You may request account deletion from within the app where available or by contacting us. After a verified deletion request, we will delete or de-identify account data and encrypted backup data within a reasonable period, except for information we must retain for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You can also:
- change photo, camera, and notification permissions in iOS or Android settings;
- manage App Store or Google Play subscriptions through your platform account;
- unsubscribe from non-essential marketing emails;
- delete selected backups or request account deletion;
- contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or export of account information.
10. Children
Safety Photo+Video is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. International Processing
We may process and store information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and work with providers that commit to protecting user information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app, service, laws, or platform requirements change. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, email, or another reasonable method. The updated policy will be effective when posted unless a later date is stated.
13. Contact Us
For privacy questions, data requests, or deletion requests, contact Sixbytes at support@safetyphoto.app. Please do not include your Encryption Password in any support message.
